Get To Know Connie “Tie” Gutierrez

In 2021, Tie transitioned from the corporate sector to entrepreneurship, opening a bookstore in San Diego that serves as both a retail store and community hub. The following year, she launched Tierra Mia, a plant shop and community space located on Thousand Oaks Boulevard. Although the storefront closed in 2023, Tierra Mia evolved into a mobile business that hosts private parties and community events, fostering local partnerships with businesses and institutions such as Mouthful Eatery, University Village, Cal State Channel Islands, California Lutheran University, The WAV, and Fiddle and Fern in Ventura. Her mobile business also collaborates with nonprofits like Unity Conejo, One Step a la Vez, Growing Works Nursery, and Diversity Collective.

Tie’s commitment to community service is evident in her extensive involvement with various organizations. She serves on the boards of AYSO Region 9 Soccer, Diversity Collective of Ventura County, Stonewall Democrats of Ventura County, and the UC Riverside Extension for Transformative Leadership. For the past three school years, Tie has also been an active member of school parent advisory boards, working closely with district leadership and the school board.

Connie “Tie” Gutierrez is a dedicated and experienced community leader, businesswoman, and proud resident of Ventura County for over 30 years. Having lived in Thousand Oaks District 5 for the past 25 years, Tie chose this vibrant community to raise her son, drawn by its commitment to safety, open spaces, and an exceptional quality of life.

With more than two decades of experience as an award-winning small business owner and advisor to Aerospace government contractors and FORTUNE Future 50 companies, Tie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. Her professional journey began in Human Resources, program, and project management, primarily within the technology and aerospace sectors. In 2010, she founded Gutierrez Consulting, a firm dedicated to helping tech startups grow their teams, navigate the IPO process, and streamline organizational workflows.

A lifelong learner, Tie’s educational journey began at Redwood Middle School and Westlake High School, followed by Moorpark College and California Lutheran University (CLU). Currently, she continues her studies at CLU, focusing on business organizational behavior.
